French volleyball player Earvin Ngapeth faces a three month suspended prison sentence if convicted of assaulting a train controller.
The prosecution requested for the sentence against Ngapeth for violence against a railway agent and obstruction of train traffic in July 2015.
The player arrived at a courthouse in the capital pf France and denied the charges presented against him on Monday.
“If there were no punch, how was it that there is a seven millimeters wound (above the right eyebrow) and bruising around the eye?” the president of the court questioned Ngapeth.
The prosecution has requested for a further fine of 3,000 plus 1,000 Euros in addition to the suspended prison sentence.
The proceeding will continue in April.
This is not the first discord the French player has been accused of. In 2014, he was accused of being involved in a fight in a nightclub.
